We didn't know when we first called Mario Chavez, that he is quite used to getting phone calls early in the morning from crazy radio people. He didn't recognize the number we were calling from, but he answered anyway.

That's just the type of guy he is! It's in his DNA to answer. There might be someone on the other end of the phone that truly needs his help and it's in his nature to answer that call; to fill the need.

Thank goodness that his sister, Angela Cook, took the time to write us about Mario or we might have never crossed paths and that would have certainly be our loss.

Just look at the nomination letter that Angela penned and you'll see how easy it was to name Mario Chavez as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award!

I'd like to nominate Mario Chavez, my brother. Mario is the type of man who has been blessed ten times over and on a daily basis Mario chooses to share his blessings. I have seen Mario help not only in his immediate community, but to many citizens of the Shreveport/Bossier area. Mario has worked with the the youth at YCP and I have watched him personally mentor young men, teaching them the value of hard work and loving God. Mario is the type of man that would quite literally give you the shirt off of his back. The reason I know Mario is most deserving of this recognition is because of his humility. He doesn't ask for recognition or a pat on the back, he genuinely does the these acts out of the goodness of his heart. He is a father, a husband, a brother, a son, an uncle, a friend and most importantly a god fearing Christian. I admire the man that he is.

Mario Chavez, thank you for being so amazing! You are a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!
