RED RIVER REVEL

It's Revel time here in Northwest Louisiana.  It's opening weekend for the Red River Revel, the largest outdoor arts festival in North Louisiana, expecting to draw crowds in excess of 180,000 people from October 6 through 13 in Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.  Along with all it's art displays, Red River Revel features some of the finest musical talents to ever hit the stage.  Including loads of country acts featured here on Kiss Country in the likes of Left Arm Tan, The Farm and Easton Corbin.  Speaking of Easton Corbin, listen next week for your chance to win his new CD and backstage passes for his show on Thursday, October 11.  All entertainment, times and ticket info along with a complete schedule are found at RedRiverRevel.com.

NEW AT THE BOX OFFICE

Wuthering Heights - Rated NR -A poor young English boy named Heathcliff is taken in by the wealthy Earnshaw family where he develops an intense relationship with his young foster sister, Cathy. Based on the classic novel by Emily Bronte.

Frankenweenie - Rated PG - From Tim Burton comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments.

Butter - Rated R - A tale of competition at its most cut-throat, Butter surveys the raw ambition of Laura Pickler (Jennifer Garner), the wife of Bob Pickler (Ty Burrell), Iowa’s long-reigning champion butter carver. For 15 years, Laura has relished her high-profile role as the beautiful, loyal helpmate to her affable, artistically gifted husband. But when Bob is pressured to retire and allow someone else a chance at glory, an indignant Laura decides to enter the competition herself. She is first in line on sign-up day, only to see her odds of victory fall below 100% with the arrival of an unlikely yet formidable contender: 10-year-old Destiny (Yara Shahidi), the African-American foster child of local couple Julie and Ethan (Alicia Silverstone and Rob Corddry).

The Oranges - Rated R - A comedy about two families, life long friends, and the hilarity that ensues when a rebellious daughter returns home for the holidays and causes a scandal that forces everyone to question what happiness really means and to ultimately find it in unexpected ways.

Taken 2 - Rated PG-13 - In Istanbul, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter.

The Paperboy - Rated R - A directionless young man helps his reporter brother investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row, and in the process, falls for the woman whom the convict has been romancing through prison correspondence.
