Shreveport Traffic: I-220 Westbound Lane Closed Again Today
For those planning to use I-220 West in Shreveport, today might be a day when you want to find another way.

In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we discover there will be another emergency lane closure of the bypass today in an effort to repair another summer heat related concrete buckle.
After successfully repairing both lanes of I-220W near Lakeshore Drive, which suffered the same "concrete blow-up", DOTD will now address the hazardous issue near the Jefferson Paige exit ramp.
To facilitate this latest repair, DOTD advises that today, July 16, from approximately 8:00 am until 4:00 pm, the inside (left lane) of I-220 westbound between the Lakeshore Drive and Jefferson Paige Rd interchanges will be closed.
DOTD notes that periods of extreme heat can cause concrete pavement to expand, resulting in buckling at the roadway joints that can occur quickly and without warning. DOTD crews are prepared to address these ‘blow-ups’, as they’re commonly referred to.
Existing permitted oversize loads will be accommodated through the work zone.
As with any work of this nature, inclement weather could cause delays, extensions or any other alteration of the scheduled work day/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
