Warning! Busy Shreveport I-220 Exit Ramp Closed Tomorrow
In the event it has somehow escaped you, Shreveport is in for some extremely cold temperatures next week.

Temperatures that are likely to be the coldest so far this year, and for that matter, could be the coldest of the remainder of the year, are forecast for the early part of next week.
In fact, the National Weather Service in Shreveport has just announced:
With a prolonged period of below normal temperatures expected next week, confidence of accumulating winter precipitation is increasing. That being said, odds are still on the lower end but present enough to introduce in the forecast.
Due to the possibility of this "accumulating winter precipitation", the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is taking some proactive steps to possibly prevent some hazardous driving conditions.
However, doing that will cause a minor traffic headache for drivers tomorrow, Thursday, January 16, when the DOTD has announced they will close the I-220 westbound ramp to I-49 northbound in Shreveport.
This ramp closure is scheduled to take place from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and is necessary to allow DOTD crews to perform preventative operations related to snow/ice.
Detour signage will be in place. Motorists traveling westbound on I-220 can access I-49 northbound via LA 173 (Hilry Huckaby Ave) to LA 3194 (MLK Jr. Drive) to I-49.
As with all DOTD projects, this work will be done "weather permitting" so inclement weather could delay, extend or alter scheduled work days/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.

Motorists may also monitor the LA DOTD website at www.dotd.la.gov, by selecting MyDOTD, or by visiting the DOTD Facebook and X (Twitter) pages.
