Hero Horse Therapeutic Riding Center Set to Open Soon!

Yikes! This is thrilling, yet scary all at the same time! Heather Zahn, Cathy Dempsey Zahn, Ken Shepherd, John Harris and I have come together to form Hero Horse! As the crazy horse lady on the radio, it's no surprise that healing through horses is a passion of mine. This is truly a labor of love and any support you might be able to give, whether it's time, money or even a share or like would be personally and gratefully appreciated.

Hero Horse Therapeutic Riding Center

Our story is simple. Hero Horse Therapeutic Riding Center is the dream child of Cathy Zahn, a prominent local entrepreneur and advocate in our community. In an effort to create more available services to individuals on the Autism Spectrum and all others who could benefit from the healing power of horses, she brought together her daughter, long time horsewoman, Heather Zahn, and myself. Thus, Hero Horse was born. A board was formed, adding fellow horseman, ‘Shotgun’ Ken Shepherd, and local lawyer and philanthropist, John Harris. The By-laws and Articles of Incorporation were then filed with the State of Louisiana and our official first day as a recorded entity in Louisiana became April 1, 2019. Our 501(c)3 status is currently pending with the IRS.

Currently, both Heather and I are feverishly working to obtain our official therapeutic riding instructor credentials through PATH Intl. and are also working towards certification as Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning. At the same time, extensive work is being done to the Hero Horse facilities, readying it for use with the help of Woody’s Home for Veterans and the Boozefighters MC.
