Heather Wilson has been a kindergarten and first grade teacher for over fifteen years now, and the COVID-19 quarantine has been especially rough on her because she truly misses her babies.

She says, "We missed the whole final 9 weeks with these kids and it's been rough." And that's the kind of heart you hope the teacher of your young five and six year olds will have, when it's your child they've been entrusted to teach.

And it's her love for these youngsters that led Heather's own daughter, Cheyanne Cedars, to nominate her Mom. One look at her nomination letter and it's easy to see why Heather was a shoe-in as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

My opinion may be biased but my mom is one of the most selfless and caring people i’ve ever met. She has been a kindergarten/1st grade teacher for almost 15 years now and she is still just as devoted today as she was when she started. In today’s world, it’s tough being a teacher with all the expectations they are required to meet. I don’t know how she has done it all these years but it is honorable quality. With the schools closing due to the coronavirus, the only contact she has with her students is over the computer which has not only been hard on the students but her as well. However, instead of spending her Easter at home, she decided drive all over Shreveport/Bossier just to bring all of her students an Easter goodie bag to let them know she is thinking about them and hopes to see them soon. (She did maintain social distancing!) She treats each and every student she has ever had like her own children and loves them just the same. I am proud to call her my mom and I know her students are proud to have had her as a teacher!

Heather Wilson, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Heather to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
