This time, it's the ongoing road construction project in the city limits of Haughton that will bring on another road closure and the associated traffic issues that accompany it.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is alerting all motorists that beginning on Tuesday, June 4, LA 3227 at the intersection of LA 157 in Haughton will be closed.

This closure is scheduled to be in place for approximately four weeks, and is related to the ongoing project to realign the LA 3227/LA 157 intersection.

This road closure will allow the contractor to perform concrete panel repairs, improve drainage under LA 3227, and install curb and gutter as part of drainage improvements during a time frame when school is not in session.

The intersection itself will remain open during this phase of work.

As a reminder, the purpose of this first project (one of two) is to widen the busy LA 157 corridor from two to five lanes near the Pilot truck stop. The additional lanes will be constructed on the east side of LA 157.

The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late Spring 2024, weather permitting.

The second phase, which will include the construction of the new LA 3227 on a different alignment south of its current route, as well as the relocation of the existing traffic signal, will be done in a future project.

This is a total road closure at the specified location. No access will be allowed from LA 3227 to LA 157. All vehicles will need to detour.
