Ginny Hammock answered the calling. She filled the need. She believed that she could "Be The Match" and after determining that she was the match, amidst all the other things going on in her life, she gladly made the bone marrow donation to a perfect stranger in Brazil.

Not only does Ginny give of her time and talents to all those she works with and for, but she never forgets her own family and those blessed to have her in their life, including her husband, Charles.

Just look at the nomination letter he submitted to us, making it so easy to name her this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

I READ ALL THE TIME ABOUT THE GOOD DEEDS PEOPLE DO, SO IT GOT ME TO THINKING ABOUT ALL THAT MY WIFE, GINNY, DOES. DAY IN AND DAY OUT SHE WORKS HARD TO MAKE SURE HER JOB IS DONE ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT IS ASKED OF HER, SHE WORKS AT LSUHSC, AS THE RESIDENCY COORDINATOR FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY, MAKING SURE ALL THE RESIDENTS STAY ON COURSE, AND THAT IN ITSELF, IS TWO FULL TIME JOBS. NOW, THE REAL GINNY COMES TO SHINE AWAY FROM WORK. THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS, NOT ONLY DOES SHE TAKE CARE OF OUR DAUGHTER AND ME, SHE SOMEHOW FOUND TIME TO DO TWO OUTSTANDING THINGS. NOT ONLY DID SHE COME HOME TO HELP SAVANNAH WITH HER SCHOOL WORK, SHE STUDIED ALL EVENING AND HALF THE NIGHT, TO GRADUATE FROM LSUS, WITH HER MASTERS DEGREE. THE NEXT DEED IS THE GREATEST OF ALL. WE ATTEND THE SIMPLE CHURCH AND FROM TIME TO TIME THEY HOLD BLOOD DRIVES. ONE TIME, WHEN THEY VISITED, THEY BROUGHT WITH THEM A COMPANY CALLED "BE THE MATCH." THESE FOLKS WORK WITH OUTSIDE HOSPITALS TO HELP FIND POSSIBLE DONORS FOR TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS. DONORS OF THINGS LIKE BONE MARROW, T-CELLS AND OTHER POSSIBLE LIFE SAVING PROCEDURES. WELL GINNY WAS CONTACTED AND INSTANTLY JUMPED ABOARD AND STARTED A JOURNEY THAT TOOK ALMOST A YEAR, SEVERAL TRIPS TO HOUSTON FOR TESTS AND THEN IN DECEMBER OF 2018, NOW MIND YOU, THIS WAS ONE WEEK AFTER MY NECK SURGERY, SO NOT ONLY WAS SHE TAKING CARE OF ME, WE JUMPED ON A PLANE BACK TO HOUSTON FOR HER TO HAVE A SIMPLE, YET PAINFUL SURGERY. SHE DID A BONE MARROW DONATION FOR A LITTLE LADY IN BRAZIL. IT HAS ALMOST COME TO THE TWO YEAR WAITING POINT TO BE ABLE TO FIND OUT IF THE LITTLE LADY SURVIVED OR IF IT WORKED. WE ALWAYS HEAR ABOUT THE ONES THAT HELP IN THE COMMUNITY, BUT THE ONES THAT TAKE THINGS A STEP FURTHER HARDLY EVER GET NOTICED. THAT IS WHY I AM NOMINATING GINNY AS THIS WEEKS CAUGHT IN THE ACT AWARD WINNER.

Ginny Hammock, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!

And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Ginny to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
