SHREVEPORT, LA - I don't know about you, but I have to be pretty sick to call in at work. It's just me. I don't like to dump my work on other people and I don't like it when others do it to me. Luckily, my entire crew is a pretty healthy bunch and it rarely happens.

But, if this happened at my job, I would think twice about showing up for work on this day.

This little incident happened in south Louisiana this past week. I'm sure this store visitor was just trying to get out of the blazing heat. But as workers arrived to open a Dollar General Store in Plaquemines Parish, they spotted a pretty big gator waiting just outside the door to the store.

The Sheriff's Office posted this message on Facebook:

"This little fella 🐊 was patiently waiting for the Dollar General to open this morning! The best deals in town are always DTR!"

They promptly called the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office to come down and take care of the "situation".  Wildlife folks were probably called in to help assist with this "customer" too.

Hundreds of folks chimed in on social media to discuss the reasons the gator might have chose the Dollar General. Clearly, the Sheriff's Office was also having a little fun with this call for service:

Deputy Tony Palmisano captured the photo of the animal, saying it looked like it was “patiently waiting for the Dollar General to open this morning.”

Alligators are pretty common in Plaquemines Parish which is just south of New Orleans. I'm sure the gator was relocated to one of the many swampy areas located in that region.
