These events are being held in each parish in the region except Webster Parish because that health unit is in the process of being renovated.

The State Department of Health says flu cases are starting to climb in our area and now is a good time to get the vaccine. Flu season is usually between December and February when the number of flu cases typically peaks, though it can extend into May.

Experts say getting a flu shot each year is the best way to protect yourself.

Who Should Get the Flu Shot?

The health department says everyone six (6) months of age and older should get a flu shot by the end of October, though getting one anytime during flu season can still help.
