Imagine how difficult it would be to portray Mrs. Claus for a month every year. The near daily appearances you'd make at festivals, schools, day care centers, even nursing homes. Having to wear the heavy costume and wig and having to keep that smile even when you don't feel like smiling, could be grueling at times.

Not for Dawn Corley! For years she's become Mrs. Santa Claus for so many in our area. Along with a "Mrs. Santa hug" she brings goodies and that spirit of good will to so many, that it was a simple decision to name her this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Gary & Bristol, I would like to nominate Dawn Corley (Mrs Claus)!! 20 years ago at a church Christmas it all began but it really went big in 2014!
It was that year that Dawn decided to “Dress” the part of Mrs. Claus. She went to a local thrift store, found an extra extra large red dress, purchased a white wig & Mrs. Claus made her first visit on Thanksgiving day 2014. And she goes everywhere; Sibley, Dubberly, Heflin, Minden, Ringgold, Bossier, Jamestown, Castor ( probably more )!! Loads of people are blessed to get a visit from Mrs Claus!! Mrs. Claus gives each child a treat bag with an ornament, small toy, a book, candy cane & a Mrs. Claus hug!! Adults aren't left out, they get Mrs. Claus’s bread!! (banana, banana nut, pumpkin, or apple) Mrs Claus said she shops “Wisely” after Christmas ( probably all year long items on sale) I don't believe she has any sponsors so I'm going to say its all her money & her time and hours baking!! When asked why she does it, Dawn says "It’s a Feeling deep down inside, that I can’t explain. It’s like if I don’t do it, then there just might be someone out there that needs a little Joy, smile, or a good hug!!" So that's my quick story of Dawn Corley aka Mrs Claus!!

Dawn Corley, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!
