Broken Sewer Reason for Partial Closure of Shreveport Intersection

Once again, the failing, antiquated infrastructure of Shreveport's water and sewerage has been called into question as it has now caused more traffic congestion at an already congested intersection. And this time, stopped traffic has plenty of time to suffer through a terrible smell.

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, all motorists are advised that, effective immediately, the westbound approach of LA 511 (W. 70th Street) at its intersection with Pines Road, (CVS corner) in Shreveport is closed.

The DOTD goes on to explain that the closure is necessary so that crews can repair a broken main sewage pipe located underneath the roadway. Anticipated work is scheduled to last approximately 16 calendar days.

Obviously, as with all other projects, work will be done weather permitting, and according to the ten-day forecast from The Weather Channel, we could possibly see a number of stormy days in the next week to ten days, so understand that Mother Nature could cause possible delays in the crew's efforts.

DOTD will issue a notice when repairs are complete and the road has been reopened.
