Bossier Traffic To Slow Even More With Work On I-220 Now
Recently, KSLA published a story highlighting that over 3,500 citations have been issued to commercial truck drivers traveling through the I-20 reconstruction project in Bossier City.
Since the early days of this project, when so many had overturned, tying up traffic for hours, those trucks have been forbidden in this zone and were forced to use I-220 to bypass the construction work.
Obviously, because of the increased volume of vehicles on I-220, traffic has moved somewhat slower, but not nearly as slow as navigating through the I-20 construction zone.
Today, that I-220 traffic will likely slow even more as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that drivers may encounter a slow moving operation along the shoulder of I-220 eastbound and westbound in Bossier Parish.
This work is scheduled to take place from approximately 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
DOTD maintenance personnel will be conducting work in the median area on I-220 from I-20 to the Red River in Bossier Parish, and while all lanes will remain open, motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and be alert to changing roadway conditions.
Of course, this work will be performed weather permitting, but considering our forecast and the fact this is only a one-day project, inclement weather is unlikely.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
