This Shreveport Joint Serves the Best BBQ Beans You’ll Ever Try

Maybe It's Because I Am Mexican, But I Love Baked Beans.

I have been known to make my way to Jefferson, Texas just for the barbecue, but what I love the most are the baked beans they have. I can't help it, it's in my DNA.

Let me just put it out there, willpower and cooking baked beans do not mix, just the thought of having access to delicious baked beans in my house makes my stomach hurt, yes, I have zero willpower and will stretch out my stomach. Therefore, I will not be making barbecue baked beans at home.

My Friend Recently Introduced Me to 1938 Smokehouse.

Hillary asked me to meet her at 1938 Smokehouse for lunch, a new barbecue spot she had heard about on 318 Curbside Eats Facebook Page. When I pulled up I was worried that I was at the wrong spot. This was a lot like my first Lucky Palace experience in Bossier, am I at the right spot? This can't be it, there is nowhere to sit, there is only a walk-up and order window.

Once My Friends Showed Up We Proceeded to Order Everything on the Menu.

Brisket, brisket sausage, down-home sausage, ribs, green beans, bbq baked beans, and potato salad. I just admit there were only 3 of us that were going to feast on this and the portions defeated us, there were a lot of leftovers.

The Ribs are Some of the Best I Have Had in Shreveport.

I have been struggling to find a great BBQ spot in Shreveport-Bossier. I normally opt out of ordering BBQ baked beans because they always let me down. I don't want them to taste like straight sugar or out of the can. It's just not what I enjoy. However, my friend Hillary ordered them and I am grateful she did.

These beans are quite possibly the best side option in town, there is brisket, Downhome Sausage, and their delicious 1938 sauce is all cooked along with the beans. This BBQ sauce isn't the sweet thick sauce you're used to so prepare for that, just know these are the best bbq beans you'll ever have in Shreveport-Bossier.

My friend proceeded to give a review on the 318 Curbside Eats Facebook page. Might I add it's one of the most accurate reviews I have read and I was saying "Yes, preach sister" the entire time I read her review.

"Run, do not walk, before they sell out, to 1938 Smokehouse. We got a little bit of everything, which with the portion sizes, equates to a lot of everything. You will not find better bbq anywhere in Shreveport-Bossier. Everything is phenomenal and the sauce takes it to a level I didn't think was culinarily possible.
