VETERANS

Veterans living in Northwest Louisiana are invited to a Veteran's Health Care Town Hall Meeting hosted by State Representative Jeff Thompson this Thursday, June 19 at the Bossier Parish Community College Performing Arts Theater which will run from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

Veteran's Day won't come around this year until Tuesday, November 11, but with Barksdale Air Force Base sitting square in the middle of Bossier City, we're reminded almost daily of the sacrifices that our military's young men and women are making.

Wow, there's a lot going on here in Kiss Country's corner of Northwest Louisiana this weekend. Along with the State Fair and Veteran's Day activities, we've got high school football playoffs and even a carnival. We've tried to list everything we know of but we're sure to have missed something so feel free to add it below...

THE BEST DOG STORY They told me the big black Lab's name was Reggie, as I looked at him lying in his pen. The shelter was clean, no-kill, and the people were really friendly.

In an effort to recognize America’s service men and women, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs is reaching out with a big “Thank You”.  The service and sacrifice by our Veterans is remembered and appreciated daily.  And on November 11th, Harrah's will take time out to say “Thank You” as a Country.

Kiss Country is saluting Veterans with tickets for the George Strait/Martina McBride concert on Saturday, January 28! Tickets go on sale Friday, 11-11-11, and since that’s Veteran’s Day we’re saluting Veteran’s with tickets in the first 5 rows!

Summerfield Estates retirement community, at 9133 Baird Road in Shreveport, will host an ice cream sundae social to support the Outward Bound for Veterans program, Oct. 23 from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited.
