Veterans living in Northwest Louisiana are invited to a Veteran's Health Care Town Hall Meeting hosted by State Representative Jeff Thompson this Thursday, June 19 at the Bossier Parish Community College Performing Arts Theater which will run from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

David LeCerte, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs will be participating in the event, as will representatives of U.S. Senator David Vitter and Congressman John Fleming's offices.

"The news is becoming more disturbing every day about the treatment of our nation's heroes  in Veterans Administration Hospitals in Louisiana and across the nation,"  commented Representative Jeff Thompson, who continued: "We owe more to the men and women who have served our nation, and to fix the problems, we need to hear firsthand the obstacles faced by our veterans."

Thompson, a member of the Special Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs, will be attending the June 27th special meeting of that committee in Baton Rouge to address the concerns dealing with treatment of veterans.  "With the Overton Brooks V.A. Hospital, the War Veterans Home, and the tens of thousands of veterans in our community, I want to ensure that our voice is heard and that promises made to our veterans are kept."

During the meeting participants will be invited to share their personal experiences in obtaining health care treatment and to make recommendations for improvement of delivery of those services.
