This past weekend Haydel's Game Calls partnered with the Wounder Warrior project to host a deer hunting event for six soldiers. These brave soldiers arrived at Barksdale Airforce Base Friday and stayed til Monday. Volunteers assisted them with everything and donations covered all the costs….well, most of the costs.

Today begins a week of  Special Youth Deer Season on Private Land in our area (Area 2). Turns out it's kinda the unofficial/official start to deer season for youth thanks to a new rule pertaining to youth this year in Louisiana. Read on for more information!

A deer made quite an entrance at a Goodwill store in New Jersey on Jan. 7 when it plunged through a glass door and ran rampant in the store. A deer crashing through the window of a taco restaurant we can totally understand. But a second-hand store? How gauche!

As a deer hunter, I've been called everything from "Bambi Killer" to just plain old "cruel".  Personally, I let it go in one ear and out of the other. Deer hunting has been here longer than any of these nay sayers, and what most don't know is that we deer hunters are actually protecting society in ways "non-deer hunters" would ever understand.

Normally when the story starts off with "You ain't gonna believe this"...then don't!  But in this case, there are too many witnesses and even video to support the story....but "you ain't gonna believe this". Pictured is my "Uncle Gary"...Ga...

Are YOU ready for this weekend?  I know the McCoy boys are raring to go. This Saturday is the start of Youth Deer WEEK in Area 2 of North Louisiana. That's right...a full WEEK for the kids this year.  Starting this Saturday, October 8 and running through next Friday, October 14.

With the River Run ATV Park and Pieworks of Bossier Sportsman's Expo now only 2 weeks off, a little chill went up my spine.  It was the same feeling a 6 year old gets about 9am on Christmas Eve.  It's ALMOST HUNTING SEASON!
