When you're as amazing as Jere is, your reputation spreads fast and she's just one of those types of people.

First to jump in and help when it's needed, and last to look for any type of recognition.

However, she couldn't avoid the recognition this week after we received her incredible nomination letter from her dear friend Rachel Lowry, who made it so easy to name Jere as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Just look at that letter!

Jere Thompson is a Nurse Practitioner at Benton Medical in Benton. North Caddo Medical Center hit a homer when they hired this wonderful nurse to see patients in their Benton Clinic. Jere has 2 children and her husband is a Shreveport Fireman. I have known Jere since high school. She has a beautiful home on the lake and many are in awe of her. Not only is she stunningly beautiful on the outside, but even prettier on the inside. She truly has a servant’s heart made of gold. You see, Jere hasn't always had it easy. She has worked her tail off to get to where she is today. She has been on her own, supporting herself since she was in high school. She didn't have help from her parents or loved ones, she did it all by herself. Sometimes working 2 and 3 jobs because she had bills to pay all while going to school. I knew her back when she didn't have much. She took that situation and did NOT become bitter, she just got better. She does so much for the community of Benton. She donates her time and money to the local schools. From providing meals to the staff at area schools to helping decorate for special events and even assisting the teachers when needed, she helps endlessly with Benton/Bossier schools. I have seen her make time in her day to see patients who have no way of getting the medical attention they need, she will make phone calls and make the impossible, possible. She has so many friends that her text messages go off all day with people needing help with this or that or others having medical questions, and she never misses a beat- she answers them all. She treats my entire family. I feel like we are constantly texting her with questions or concerns and she has never failed to respond. This past March, she was on vacation with her family for Spring Break and I didn't know it, I was texting her back and forth with a medical concern I had and she was answering me immediately and then she tells me she was on vacation. I felt horrible, but she never acted like it fazed her. That is just the kind of genuine person she is. She has a date set right now to give local high school athletes FREE physical exams so they will be eligible to play sports this next school year. I often wonder how she fits it all in and still be an incredible mom and wife who looks amazing. That's just the kind of selfless person she is. Always, Always, Always giving of her time, energy, money. and generally just anything she can to help the next person. Her staff loves her as well as her patients. I cannot think of a more deserving person to be praised than Jere Thompson.

Jere Thompson, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner.

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Jere to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
