1st Annual Holiday in Dixie BBQ Cook Off Slated For Saturday

On Saturday, April 20, the first annual Holiday in Dixie BBQ Cook Off will be held from 3:00 to 10 p.m. in the riverfront area of Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.

Admission is $10 and includes three Peoples' Choice BBQ sample tickets.
Additional Peoples' Choice BBQ samples from the teams will be sold for $1 each. Sample tickets will be available from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Results of judged and Peoples' Choice winners will be announced between 5:30 and 6:30pm. Kell Phelps, president of NBBQA and publisher of National BBQ News, will officiate and direct the judging teams.

Live entertainment will be provided by Avery Michaels from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. and The Boogie Kings from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m., on the riverfront stage.

Food, soft drink, beer and wine will be available for purchase.

All the activities will take place on the parkway from Sci-Port to the Barnwell Center and in the parking lot between Sci Port and RR Waterway building.

Proceeds benefit the Ambassadors Senior Essay College Scholarship Fund.
