Louisiana State Police Troopers were called to the scene of a UTV accident Sunday (7/10/22) night just before 11:00pm. Troopers say the driver of the UTV was driving on the street near Bates Road in Frierson.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2016 Can-Am UTV, was traveling north on LA Hwy 5. As the driver attempted to turn onto Bates Road, he ran off the road, overturned, and was ejected.

The crash claimed the life of 30-year-old Jaquentin Brokenberry.

Brokenberry was not wearing a seat belt or a DOT-approved helmet.  He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where he was pronounced dead.

Louisiana State Police Troop G has released a statement regarding UTV and ATV safety:

In 2022, Troop G has investigated 21 fatal crashes, resulting in 22 deaths.
