This Week’s Caught in the Act Award Goes to Dana Rushton

Let me paint this picture for you. It's bright and early and you're busy in the kitchen fixing breakfast for your 5 year old before you have to haul them in to kindergarten. It's already been a hectic morning.

It's been hotter than Hades, school just started last week, so the routine hasn't set in yet, and that's when your cell phone rings. And it's obviously not a number you recognize. It's got to be another one of those marketing calls, so your first thought is to let it go to voicemail. But, that's not how Dana Rushton handled things.

Nope, she had no idea who was on her phone, but it could be that it was someone who needed help, so in the middle of all the helter skelter in the kitchen, Dana stopped everything to field that phone call. That's just the type of person she is.

And that phone call was from Bristol and me. We just wanted her to know that she'd been selected as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award. Course, once she was on the line, it was easy to see that everything Jackie Borders had written about her in her nomination letter, were absolutely true!

Mrs. Rushton is a one of a kind lady. She always goes above and beyond to help anyone in need. She would give you the shirt off of her back. I was able to catch her in action without her even noticing me. She had went into Walmart to pick up some medication and there was a lady in front of her needing medication due to her having cancer but she was also there to pick up her daughters medication who was pregnant. The woman only had enough money to pick up her daughter's medication and not her own. So Dana walked up and said I'll cover your fees for your medication. Dana did this without hesitation. She had seen that the woman needed her medication so she stepped up when she didn't have to. The woman began to cry and hugged Dana's neck and thanked her. This is just one of the many good deeds that Dana has done. She has a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone no questions asked. That's just who she is. I cant think of a better deserving person to receive this award.

Dana Rushton, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!
