Tax Free Holiday Coming Up

Start scratching down your back to school lists our state tax free weekend is coming up August 5th and 6th. Local taxes will still apply, but you can load up on clothes, uniforms, educational equipment and school supplies during the two day 4% state tax hiatus.

Most personal, non business use items are applicable. Sorry, but you won't be able to purchase a new vehicle on the state tax free plan. But, the first $2,500 worth of eligible items that you purchase will be exempt from state tax during these two days. The expenses for supplies can also be deducted on your 2011 state income tax returns! For more details visit the Department of Revenue site, where they have easy to understand video and lists.

And, just in case you are wondering, there is another tax free weekend coming up September 2nd-4th that applies to firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies.
