After a basically calm week of weather and for the most part a very nice weekend across the state things are about to change. A low pressure system center over Colorado this morning and a warm front extending eastward from that low will be the catalyst for wet weather for much of the week.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service say that most of the shower activity for Monday will be confined to the western parts of the state. There will be scattered showers and thunderstorms that do pop up for cities to the east though.

By Tuesday the energy impulses generated from the low pressure as it moves eastward will create a much better chance of rain and thunderstorms across South Louisiana.Rain chances for North Louisiana will be building in late in the day on Tuesday.

Right now the Storm Prediction Center has much of Louisiana in the marginal category for severe weather with a slight higher risk of severe storms over the western third of the state.

Rainfall totals across the state could be any where from two to four inches over the next several days. By the weekend the storm track is expected to lift northward bringing warm and muggy conditions to much of the state with only small threat of scattered showers.
