It's a tradition at a tradition unlike any other...players making their debut at The Masters. There have been multiple players who have made massive moves during their maiden voyage at the most recognized gold tournament of the year, and this year might feature another.

During the 2022 Masters, Shreveport native Sam Burns will get his first shot at the tournament. He's currently positioned to make a big splash as well.

Burns is currently ranked at #11 in the World Golf Rankings, he holds two PGA tour victories in this season, and a recent win at the Valspar Championship in a playoff.

Before the PGA Tour, Burns came up in the Shreveport golf scene. He was already well known locally while he was in middle school, and really started to gain national attention while in high school at Calvary Baptist Academy. He won three individual State Championships, and was named American Junior Golf Association Rolex Junior Player of the Year.

He then took his talents to Baton Rouge to play for the LSU Tigers. He continued to dominate at the college level. He was named First Team All American, and NCAA Division 1 Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year in the 2016-2017 season.

This year's Masters will be Burns' first run at a Green Jacket, but it won't be his first Major tournament. Burns competed in the 2016, 2018, and 2021 US Open, the 2019 PGA Championship, and the 2021 Open Championship. His best finish in a Major so far has been a tie for 29th in the 2019 PGA Championship.
