Expect More Traffic Delays Beginning Monday on I-220 Red River Bridge
UPDATED from LADOTD:
The hours originally released for the intermittent lane closures of I-220 West over the Red River Bridge were incorrect. The corrected hours for this closure are 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. There will be no DAILY lane closures for this operation. Only closures are scheduled for the night hours.
ORIGINAL STORY BELOW:
It's been the summer of traffic delays for drivers on I-220 in Shreveport and Bossier.

We've experienced "Emergency Lane Closures", "Routine Bridge Inspections" and now it looks like we'll have to weather a "Utility Construction" storm.
In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation, we learn that work originally scheduled to have taken place this week, has been rescheduled to begin this coming Monday, July 28 and is expected to continue all the way through Friday, August 1.
DOTD is warning that we should expect intermittent lane closures on the I-220 westbound bridge over the Red River each day next week between the approximate hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
This lane closure has been deemed necessary in an effort to allow a private fiber company to inspect their utilities that are attached to the bridge.
As with all projects of this nature, the work will be performed "Weather Permitting" so any inclement weather could postpone, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
