Such is the case for Shannon Clemons. She is such an incredibly giving woman that the Greenwood Police Chief Shayne Gibson took it upon himself to write us an amazing nomination letter about Shannon's true heroics.

Of course, Shannon deflected the attention and attributed all the wonderful deeds she's done for the Greenwood community to God and the other incredible people in the community. But, we all know that God's work only gets done by people willing to listen and follow his commands, so Shannon, thank you for paying attention.

Just look at the letter we got from Chief Gibson and you'll see just how easy it was to name Shannon this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Working in a small-town police department, you get to know many of your residents. Usually, you get to know them because they are problematic. Shannon had stayed off of the police department's radar up until about July 2023. On June 4, 2023, Sgt. George Shaul was injured in the line of duty. He had apprehended a fugitive and was injured during the fugitive's escape attempt. Sgt. Shaul was off work for approximately five months. Shortly after Sgt. Shaul's injury, Shannon contacted me and wanted to do a fundraiser for Sgt. Shaul and his family. In September 2023, Shannon sold hamburger plates and raffle tickets. Shannon got everything donated and raised over $10,000 for Sgt. Shaul's family. Another of my officers, Cpl. Chris Faris, has been battling cancer for a few years. On October 13, 2023, Cpl. Faris was recognized by the Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey Team as their Hometown Hero. On January 13, 2024, Shannon Clemons hosted another fundraiser to assist Cpl. Faris' family with costs of treatments. This time, she put together a Chili Cook-Off and auction. Again, she went above and beyond and got all of the items donated for the fundraiser. In her spare time, she put together a gift card drive. She spearheaded collecting and distributing gift cards for a Greenwood resident and his family as the man was preparing to have an organ transplant. Shannon deserves this award and recognition because she truly has a servant's heart and supports her community. Like I said, we know many of our residents for the wrong reasons but Shannon is known for the right reasons.

Shannon Clemons, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner.

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Shannon to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
