COVID-19 has really changed the rules for us this year when it comes to our daily "Kiss Class of the Day" featuring a local elementary class as they recite the Pledge of Allegiance for us.

Normally, in advance of the class being featured, I would travel, camera in hand, to video the class, and then let the teacher and principal know exactly what day their class would lead us in the pledge.

With us still in Phase 2 of the COVID recovery, we felt it would be ill-advised for me to attend these classes this year. And with so much hybrid learning implemented in the area, we realized that only about half of the students would ever be in a classroom anyway. It was certainly a challenge, but with our local educators, "a challenge" doesn't mean much, since they are already so familiar with problem solving. And they are certainly up for the task.

That said, I sent emails to our local principals asking them to record videos of their classes reciting the Pledge for us and they're beginning to roll in by the droves. I just want to take a second to applaud these educators for stepping up to yet another task, but one that will shine more positive spotlight on their students.

The first video we've received this year came from Mrs. Gladney's 5th grade at Princeton Elementary! They’re our featured Kiss “Class of the Day” and they did a SPECTACULAR job saying the Pledge of Allegiance for us this morning!
