Rising Water Brings On Flood Advisories For 2 Shreveport Lakes

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the Flood Watch issued a couple of days ago has been extended through 12:00 pm today, Thursday, January 25.

The NWS states that additional rainfall amounts will range from one inch across far NE TX and SW Arkansas to 1-3 inches across Deep East Texas and North Louisiana.

The threat for river flooding, urban flooding, and flash flooding will remain elevated in areas included in the watch.  Given the wet soils in place, minor flooding will be possible in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas.

And it's these conditions that have prompted the National Weather Service to issue Flood Advisories for a pair of lakes in the Shreveport area.

FLOOD ADVISORY FOR CYPRESS BAYOU AT WALLACE LAKE

A Flood Advisory has been issued for Cypress Bayou at Wallace Lake through Sunday at 6:00 am.  At 9:00 pm Wednesday the stage was 145.8 feet.  Bankfull stage is 142.0 feet.

Expect the lake to rise to near 150.5 feet by Friday morning. The subdivision in southwest Shreveport off Kingston Road and Stagecoach Road could become cut-off due to rising water. Portions of Linwood Road, Barron Road, and Keithville- Kingston Road could also see impacts from rising waters along with parts of Southern Trace Golf Course.  Action stage is 149.0 feet.  Flood stage is 151.0 feet.

FLOOD ADVISORY FOR CROSS BAYOU AT CROSS LAKE

A Flood Advisory has been issued for Cross Bayou at Cross Lake through Friday at 12:00 pm.  At 12:30 pm Wednesday the stage was 170.6 feet. Bankfull stage is 172.5 feet.

Expect the lake to rise to near 172.0 feet by noon Thursday. Secondary roads and camps in and around Cross Lake will see impacts from rising water. Action stage is 172.5 feet. Flood stage is 173.0 feet.
