Returning Soldier Surprises Son Dressed as Captain America From ‘The Avengers’

So I'm a little on the "older side" these days because I remember the day man first landed on the moon.  But not because it was one of the greatest moments of my generation, but because I thought my Dad was one of the astronauts.  He was in the Louisiana National Guard at that time, and he'd just gone on duty at the time our astronauts were making that first lunar landing...and when we last saw them on earth they were in army fatigues.  That's what Dad was wearing when he left, so he MUST be one of those guys...right?  Kids love to think Dad is some type of super hero...especially if he might be Captain America from ‘The Avengers!  Imagine the shock for one boy to see his favorite superhero show up on his doorstep. Though the bigger shock came when he realized that this real-life strong man was actually his army dad returning from Afghanistan.

The dad had missed his son’s birthday by a few days, but the family decided it wasn’t too late to celebrate. So the kid, dressed up as his favorite comic book hero, got one of the best presents a kid could ask for.

Not every child is lucky enough to have a real Captain America as their dad, so this reunion makes it all the more heartwarming. And when the son and his brother wrap around their daddy’s leg after the initial shock… yeah, that made us reach for the tissue box.
