Report – LSU Football Job Will Be Offered To Florida State Coach
Big time college football can sometimes seem more like a soap opera than a sport. There is no bigger soap opera in the world of NCAA football that is as compelling right now as the search for a new football coach at LSU.
The Tigers let Les Miles go earlier in the season. Interim Head Coach Ed Orgeron has done fairly well but not good enough it would seem. Reports out of Baton Rouge seem to indicate that LSU has one man in mind for the job. That man is the current Florida State head man, Jimbo Fisher.
This news isn't a shock to anyone who follows the LSU program. Fisher was allegedly the choice at the end of last season when Les Miles was fired, not fired.
Based on the conversations that I've had, I expect LSU to offer him the job and it's up to him to say no.
Tiger Rag Editor Cody Worsham made those comments to the Louisiana Radio Network.
Besides a long-standing relationship with LSU, why are the Tigers so intent on Fisher as their man?
He's already won a national championship at Florida State, there's a sense of accomplishment that comes with that. But there's also a sense of a larger mountain to climb and that's a challenge he'd be willing to take.
What if Jimbo says "NO"? He's done it before. Who would be the next logical choices for the Tigers? Current Interim Coach Ed Orgeron is the name that springs quickly to mind.
I think he's right there in that second tier of other names you've heard, whether it's (North Carolina) Larry Fedora or (West Virginia) Dana Holgorsen, I think he's right there.
LSU will close out their regular season on Friday with a game versus Texas A&M. Florida State will end their regular season Saturday night when they take on Florida.
