The town of Vivian in North Caddo Parish is rolling out the red carpet for all comers for this year's Louisiana Redbud Festival!

Though the actual "Redbud Day" won't be until Saturday, March 19, when they'll hold the Redbud Carnival in Vivian starting at 12:00 pm, they've made the event several weeks long.

In fact, they've already held the Little Miss and Miss Louisiana Redbud Pageant and the Golf Scramble, and the Redbud Style Show is scheduled for this Friday, March 11.

Still to come on the schedule this year are some other crowd favorites like the Ruby Collins Memorial Treasure Hunt which begins March 14, the Redbud Festival Carnival which runs from March 16 through 19, there's the Redbud Gospel Night on March 18 and the Redbud Stampede Rodeo March 18 and 19.

However, the event near and dear to local anglers will be the first ever Louisiana Redbud Team Bass Fishing Tournament slated for this Saturday, March 12 at Earl G. Williamson Park on Caddo Lake in Oil City, Louisiana.

Entry fee is $150 per team with a maximum of two people per team. This includes entry into the Big Bass Pot which will pay $500 for the biggest bass of the event.

Tournament Director Mike Echols says of the Redbud Festival's 1st Ever Bass Tournament on Caddo Lake, "This is a great event with a high (90%) payout.  The Red Bud Committee and Town of Vivian welcome you to come enjoy the day and win some money!"

Start fishing time will be 6:15 am on March 12. Teams must stop fishing by 3:00 pm and must be checked in at the “Bag Line” no later than 3:45 pm.
