From huge concerts to the opening weekend of the State Fair of Louisiana, there's something for just about everyone to do this weekend in northwest Louisiana!
It's opening weekend for the State Fair of Louisiana with tons of fun activities in addition to food row and the midway! Some special events to check out include the 2017 Livestock Show, the 16th Antique Tractor Pull and Show, the State Fair Cheer and Dance Championships, the Baton and Dance Line Competition, the 4-H Quiz Bowl and Talent Contest, etc... Did we mention there will also be turkey legs and corn dogs? Let the fun begin! The State Fair of Louisiana is open from 10am-10pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and from 10am-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The fair is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Gate admission is $10.
Jason Aldean's They Don't Know Tour hits Bossier City's CenturyLink Center Saturday night. The show was sold out, but they released a limited number of tickets earlier this week, but don't expect them to last long, if they're even still available now! Opening up are rising country stars Chris Young and Kane Brown. Show time is 7:30pm.
The Brookshire's + Super 1 Foods Heroes Run is this Saturday morning with the opening welcome slated for 7am. Late registration and packet pick up will begin at 5am. Shreveport's Convention Center will be where the action is, including a performance by the Spazmatics at 9am. This race includes a 15K, a 5K and a Kid's 1K and it's all in support of local first responders and military through Team Red, White and Blue, Building Homes for Heroes, the Shreveport and Bossier City Police and Fire Departments and Barksdale Air Force Base.
The Molly Ringwalds have been a staple party band for the Ark-La-Tex for as long as I can remember and they're bringing their twist on the 80's to Margaritaville Resort Casino's Paradise Theater Friday night at 7pm for another great show. 21+
