Hopefully the Minden I-20 barrel races are nearly over! But, before construction crews can wrap things up, DOTD says they'll have to close the interstate again.

As the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development nears the projected completion next month of the LA 531 overpass replacement project over I-20 near Minden, they're informing drivers that we'll have another couple of nighttime complete interstate closures.

In a notice from DOTD, we learn these closures are coming next week on these dates:

  • Monday, August 25, 2025, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. - I-20 westbound at LA 531
  • Tuesday, August 26, 2025, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. – I-20 eastbound at LA 531

DOTD says they'll have to close I-20 these couple of nights so the contractor can safely finish the work located in the median of I-20.

During these hours, all traffic will be diverted to the on and off-ramps at the interchange. The LA 531 overpass will also be closed to traffic, which will be routed to the ramps as well.

As with all projects of this nature, work will be done "weather permitting" so any inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work nights/hours.
