Safewise.com has just finished compiling it's list of the safest cities in the great state of Louisiana.  At the top of the list is none other than Minden!  Yes, Louisiana's crime is much higher than the national average, but it's getting better!  Last year, the Bayou State clocked 8.62 violent crimes per 1,000 people.  This year, that number has dropped to 8.49 (national average is a scant 4.49 violent crimes per 1,000 people).

Don't let that fool you, there are some pretty safe towns in Louisiana.  According to the report, 7 of our states safest cities made the list for the second year in a row!  Not only that, but 80% of the cities in the Sportman's Paradise were murder-free (that's kind of a big deal)!

This year, the fine city of Minden jumped 5 spots to #1, while Bossier City was the 33rd safest.  Shreveport (AKA Ratchet City) cam in at 40th (just 3 spots in front of New Orleans).
