The good news is that the project is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2025, and at that time the Minden area will probably throw a party.

The bad news is that until then, sporadic closures of I-20 at the LA 531 overpass will continue and another of those has just been announced for this coming Monday, November 11.

In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we have learned that on Monday, the left (inside) lanes of I-20 in both the eastbound and westbound directions at the LA 531 interchange near Minden in Webster Parish will be closed.

These lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 7:00 am until 12:00 pm for this one day only, and are necessary to allow the contractor on the ongoing LA 531 overpass replacement project to safely work on constructing the barrier rail on the deck of the new bridge.

Upon completion next summer, this project will include the installation of two roundabouts at the ramps for improved traffic flow and safety.

As with all DOTD projects, all work will be done weather permitting, so inclement weather could cause delays, extensions or other modifications to the scheduled times/days of the closures.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Louisiana's 21 Most Wanted Criminals

While some of these have been missing for over 50 years and are likely deceased, many have escaped prison in the past 10 years and could likely still be in Louisiana so keep your eyes peeled and should you spot one of these criminals, immediately contact police.
