Marth Hammock is this Week’s Caught in the Act Award Recipient
Each week, Gary and Bristol take your nominations so that they can catch someone in the act of 'doing good' and recognize them in front of the whole wide world!
When we opened up the nomination letter we received from Corrie Hill who works with the nominee, Martha Hammock, at Holy Angels. I sat there with tears in my eyes when learning about Ms. Martha's constant love and attention for her residents. Plus, knowing that she's a Saints fan doesn't hurt! Check out the call we made to Martha and her nomination letter below and once you do, you'll know why she was named this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.
Just take a look at the letter we got from Corrie:
Mrs. Martha is the Director of Habilitation at Holy Angels Residential Facility in Shreveport. Some people go to a job 40 hours a week and leave each day, knowing it's just another day at work. That can't be said for Mrs. Martha. Holy Angel's is Mrs. Martha's life. She has worked at Holy Angels for over 36 years. Every day she makes an impact, not only on our wonderful residents, but also on the 250 staff members we employee. Everyone on campus knows Mrs. Martha. She is full of kindness, laughter, humbleness, love and most importantly, the biggest Saints fan in Louisiana. She never works a "normal" 40 hour work week. She works 10-12 hour days, 6 sometimes 7 days a week. She'll work an entire day shift then stay overnight to help when we are short staffed since we are a 24 hour care facility.
Since COVID happened, Holy Angles had to shut down our campus in March to the outside community for the safety of our residents. Mrs. Martha has gone above and beyond to work with different programs on campus to keep as much "normalcy" for our residents as possible. We've created pizza parties, movie nights, Halloween hayrides and at home events to keep them having fun! She's worked multiple over night and weekend shifts when we've been low on staff. She is someone who you can always count on to be there with a smile on her face and Michael Jackson blaring on the radio.
Mrs. Martha is my boss, and I use that word loosely because she is so much more than a boss. She's an amazing leader to me, our team and the entire campus. I've never met a more selfless woman who has such a huge impact on so many lives. Working at Holy Angels is so special (ask anyone who works here), but Mrs. Martha makes this place even more special. I can't think of anyone more deserving than the Caught in the Act award than her.
Martha Hammock, thank you for being an inspiration to us all and a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!
And because you've been "Caught in the Act" the gang at Silver Star have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!
Take a listen to the phone call we made to Martha to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
