Mark Bice is a lucky man! He's got a daughter. Coming from me, a guy who was never blessed with a little girl, I can't imagine the joys he's experienced with that baby girl. But, he's even luckier when you see what she thinks of her Daddy.

She is Alison Payne, and it's obvious that Alison is convinced she's got the best Daddy on the planet. And isn't that the dream of all parents? To be your child's hero?

Just look at the nomination letter that Alison sent us and you'll see how easy it was to name Mark as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

My dad, Mark Bice, has spent his entire life working to provide for those he cares about, and even strangers in need. I remember as a child, he helped fund a transplant for a child in need. As my brother and I have grown and have our own families, he has continued to give everything he has to help others. He built his own company, and was always considerate of his employees and their needs. He recently sold his company to a larger corporation, who agreed to keep him as an employee. A few months ago, during this pandemic, they cut his position, leaving my dad without his main source of income. He didn't let this stop him. He continued to find side jobs and run his small store in Jefferson. He also continued to put others first, whether it was helping them with personal needs and repairs, providing them work, or just loaning them money. This Thanksgiving, he decided not to have a large family gathering, but still purchased several turkeys and fried them to give to families that he heard were in need of food for the holiday. He is one of the most kind-hearted, giving men I know. He is a great dad and papaw, and we would like to give him recognition and appreciation for all he does for others.

Mark Bice, thank you for being one of the "good guys" and being a big reason why this is the greatest place in America to live!
