LSU’s Overlooked Quarterback Shines as All Star[Video]

Former LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee made a grand performance, throwing two touchdown passes in Monday night's Casino del Sol College All-Star game in Tucson, Arizona.

Lee was overlooked as the relief quarterback in the BCS National Championship game when LSU behind Jordan Jefferson suffered a first in history shutout, 21-0 at the hands of an Alabama Crimson Tide team that did everything right.

Lee came off the bench to direct an 89-yard first quarter scoring drive for Houston Nutt's Stars team for a 14-0 lead over the Stripes in a game that once was called the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic.

It was Lee's first chance to play since throwing an interception in LSU's homecoming game against Western Kentucky late in the second half. He settled down during that game and gained long yardage the next play.

Before that, Lee was taken out of LSU's 9-6 overtime victory against Alabama on November 5 and replaced by Jefferson, after throwing consecutive interceptions.

Monday's great showing for Lee comes exactly one week after he spent the entire BCS Championship game on the bench in the Tide's 21-0 Superdome victory.

Many LSU fans were booing their own team and shouting for the coaches to put Lee in since Jefferson wasn't able to muster enough of an offense to come back against the number one defense in the nation.

Lee threw touchdown passes to William & Mary's Alex Gottlieb and SMU's Rich Rossi, but his Stars team came up three points short in a 24-21 Stripes' victory.

Lee says he had interviews this week with the Patriots, Packers and Seahawks, among other NFL teams that had scouts attending practice sessions during the week.
