LSU Gets Pounded by Oregon State in College World Series

For the first few innings of last night's baseball game in the College World Series between LSU and Oregon State, things were pretty level.  Both teams were on very extended winning streaks. LSU was at 17 games without a loss and Oregon State was at 22 games.  Both teams looked poised to show the country who was prepared to add another notch to that streak.

And for all intents and purposes, things remained relatively calm for the first hour of the game.  Oregon State led 1-0 until the 5th inning when OSU scored two more runs to make it 3-0.

This was only an appetizer of things to come as LSU's pitching staff struggled to throw strikes and in the 6th inning, Oregon blew the game wide open 8-0 with a five run inning that included the first ever grand slam hit at Ameritrade Park, home of the College World Series in Omaha.

Oregon State ultimately won the game 13-1 and proved just why they were ranked #1 in the nation and now have a 23 game win streak, for the second time this season, bringing their record to 56-4.

Our LSU Tigers are not out of it though.  They've just got to prove how scrappy they are and fight their way back to the top.  That will mean they've got to plow through the Florida State Seminoles once again.  That contest is set for 6:00 pm tomorrow (Wednesday).
