Remember how LSU brought home TWO titles home to Louisiana from the 2023 College World Series? One of those titles has finally come to fruition in the form of a giant donation to the LSU Baton Rouge Student Food Bank.

LSU fans purchased a whopping 68,888 Jell-O shots over the course of the 2023 Men's College World Series in Omaha resulting in a donation of $68,888!

Not only are our LSU Tigers the new Men's College World Series champs, their fans from Louisiana smashed the Jell-O Shot Challenge to bring home the title!

Never dare an LSU fan to drink in support of their beloved Tigers! LSU fans are known for being passionate and they've proved it once again in Omaha, NE for the 2023 NCAA Men's College World Series. Sure, fans of the purple and gold have been accused of being over the top, but we support our Tigers and we love to have a good time.

What is the College World Series Jell-O Shot Challenge?

Want proof? Look at what happened at this year's College World Series. A fun promotion that started back in 2019 at Rocco's Pizza in Omaha has now become a point of pride for fans. Rocco's sells Jell-O shots in the team colors of the eight schools that make it to the CWS tourney for $5 each. For fun, they have a tote board that keeps track of each school's 'spirit.' As you can see, LSU fans accepted the challenge, digging deep into their wallets and punishing their livers.

Which big Louisiana names helped to put LSU over the top in the College World Series Jell-O Shot Challenge and what was the final total?

However, that wasn't the final total. The final number of Jell-O shots purchased came to a whopping 68,888. I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that record is going to be hard to beat. Especially when you have fans like Todd Graves, Founder and CEO of Raising Canes, who purchased 6,000 jello shots alone, or personal injury lawyer Gordon McKernon who bought just shy of 8,900 shots to push LSU over the 50K mark. BTW, previously we thought that Todd might have set a Guinness World Record for the most Jello-O shots bought by a single person... This means, if he did, Gordon definitely holds that title now.

What charity does the College World Series Jell-O Shot Challenge support?

The good news? A portion of the proceeds from each shot goes to local food banks both in Omaha and for the winning team, which means LSU’s Food Pantry should receive around $60,000!
