In 1988, Louisiana totally outlawed black bear hunting in the Bayou State, but through a number of conservation efforts, the population had recovered enough that in December of 2024, a limited black bear season was established.

That initial season was such a success, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced that there would be another black bear season in 2025 with more than double the amount of permits that were issued for the 2024 season.

And now, to capitalize on the extreme popularity of this renewed effort with black bear hunting in Louisiana, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation is holding a Black Bear Hunting Auction!

The high bidder in this once-in-a-lifetime experience will receive a guided three-day hunt during the upcoming 2025 Louisiana Black Bear Season. The hunt, which will be on private land in Black Bear Management Area Four, will include lodging at Palmetto Lodge and all meals.

Proceeds from this auction will support black bear research and conservation.
