Any parent would be tickled pink that their son would be the Police Chief of our North Louisiana towns, but to have TWO SONS who are both Chiefs of Police of separate Louisiana towns has got to be incredible.

But, in reading Ronnie Gibson's nomination letter from his son, Shayne, it's easy to tell that the willingness to serve is something these boys inherited from their Dad.

His kind heart, and a special spot for old St. Nick, have earned Ronnie the recognition as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award!

He's so deserving! Just read Shayne's nomination for his Dad.

Ronnie Gibson is my dad. He's always willing to help family and friends in need. He taught and continues to teach my brother and me many things. Some of our best lessons came on area lakes and woods. He's so much more than our dad. Dad's alter ego is Santa Claus. In the late 1990's, he bought his first Santa suit and Santa began visiting with the grandkids and kids in the neighborhood. Ronnie discovered a love for being Santa Claus. Even without the Santa suit, people (young and old) often come up to him and tell him their Christmas lists. I've lost count of the Santa suits that he has bought over the years and I know they're not cheap. Dad retired from GE and now drives a special needs school bus for Bossier Parish School Board. Every year, Santa shows up to drive the bus and visit the area schools. Santa visits with several families and churches every year. Santa comes to Haughton's Christmas Parade and Greenwood's Christmas in the Park every year. His sons just happen to be police chiefs in these communities. Santa has even shown up in these towns to donate and help deliver toys to children in Greenwood and Haughton. Ronnie has more requests for Santa appearances than he can possibly make each year. He refuses to accept any money for his appearances and does this out of love. He's been a great role model for my brother and me. He and our mom have been married for 53 years.

Ronnie Gibson, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Magnolia Pit Barbecue have a $50 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner on them!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Ronnie to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
