Local Expert Gives Tips for Weight Loss During Pandemic
Losing weight and getting healthier is hard. It feels next to impossible in 2020. Local expert, Veronica L. Cook, RN, MSN, CBN, Christus Health Shreveport-Bossier Bariatric SCOE Coordinator gives us tips on how to lose weight safely and reliably.
As you can tell, Cook might know a few things about weight loss. She talks to people from right here in the Ark-La-Tex daily on how to improve their weight and health. She knows personally how card it is to turn down some of our amazing southern cuisine.
Veronica will tell you up front that she doesn't like the word 'diet.' It has too many negative connotations. She'll also tell you to eat more real food if you want to take charge of your health. That means skipping processed, packaged foods in favor of fresh, whole, unprocessed fare. She'll also tell you to drink plenty of water, eat three meals a day, and make sure to get a good night's sleep. She believes in taking small steps while creating real, life-changing habits on the way to meeting your health goals.
I don't know about you, but I found Cook's realistic approach to weight loss refreshing. After all, you have to want to lose weight more than you want to eat to be successful. That means dealing with any issues behind emotional eating. Take a listen to our interview and let me know if you found this helpful!
