Learn TBRI with Volunteers for Youth Justice [VIDEO]

Friday, August 9, 2019, I won't be on the air because I'll be taking my first course in becoming certified in TBRI thanks to Volunteers for Youth Justice!

If you're not familiar with Volunteers for Youth Justice, they're an organization right here in Shreveport and their goal is to 'make a difference in the life of a child.' Their mission as described is, 'to provide a community caring for children, youth and families in crisis.'

It's truly mind-boggling when you realize how many children and families need their help and assistance. Here's a little more on what VYJLA does and the community they serve.

So, what's TBRI? TBRI stands for Trust-Based Relational Intervention. TBRI is described as:

TBRI^® is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI^® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI^® is connection.

Volunteers for Youth Justice provides TBRI training in an effort to enable caring individuals to become a TBRI Advocate and, 'a voice of hope for our children from “hard places!” As a TBRI® Advocate you will learn the skills needed to help bring healing to this fragile population who suffers from the effects of complex trauma.'

Want to learn more about becoming a TBRI Practitioner in the video below or click here for additional information. Training takes 24 hours. At the conclusion of your training, candidates are 'commissioned by a judge and assigned a case.'
