Lacy Turner is teaching the young people of north Caddo Parish something that's certainly not one of the core subjects in our schools.

According to her long-time friend and employer, Sandy Hearron, that subject is KINDNESS!

In fact, it's pretty much Lacy's life mission to teach this incredible attribute by example.

And it's that "kindness" that made Lacy an easy selection as the final recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award for 2023.

Just look at her nomination letter that we got from Sandy and you'll see why.

I have known Lacy since she was 15 years old. I taught her in class and she was a member of my dance team. Through high school she had some obstacles and she over came them with dignity and class. She learned from those obstacles and has applied those lessons in her life. We kept in touch off and on through the years and in 2015 we were brought back together through two of our passions--kids and dance. Lacy is now a dance instructor/all star manager at my business Bayou Belles Spirit. She is dedicated to the art of dance and instilling that passion into her students. She is soft-spoken, kind, yet, persistent in teaching young men/women the importance of dance and how it connects to everyday life. She fills that gap between the art of dance and life--it's quite amazing when you see her teach. She grabs their attention and maintains it through weekly meetings with the kids. She demands excellence from her students and that excellence is shown in their trophies that they win at competitions! She doesn't like taking the credit for the kids performance, but she is an integral part of them earning those trophies! As educators, we know that teaching goes beyond the classroom. She is notorious for writing kind notes, leaving sweet little gifts to show appreciation to her students and even other people in our community. Most of these "happys" as she calls them- comes at a time when someone just needs that "pick me up" to get through the day. She is just the epitome of what we want ourselves and our kids want to be--KIND! As she is making all these "happys" she balances her family life-husband Kyle and son Lane-who support her passion of dance and kids and are frequently seen with her as she is spreading kindness.
Even though she doesn't have a lot of "achievements" in the form of certificates and trophies....she's got the gift of kindness, which is shown through her actions. In our community she is the Director of the Miss Blanchard Christmas Pageant--where she donates all the money earned back into the community--either to a local school or a community group/member who may be in need. She also uses her cooking skills to make a meal for a sick one or some cookies because she knows someone loves them. Her thoughtfulness is sprinkled in every avenue that she travels. She is definitely is always being "caught in the act" here in the Northern part of Caddo Parish. She's our Lacy and we all want to be Lacy when we "grow up"!

Lacy Turner, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you to come have dinner.

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Lacy to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
