Mooringsport Drivers Warned of Upcoming LA 169 Bridge Shutdown
Over the past several weeks you've likely noticed a number of northwest Louisiana roads being temporarily shut down to allow for DOTD crews to do bridge inspections.

Originally scheduled to be done this Sunday, March 8, but due to possible inclement weather, on Sunday, March 15, I-20 West in Shreveport will see these inspections at a number of exit ramps.
While these inspections bring on some travel inconveniences due to their associated road closures, they are completely necessary to ensure safety for all motorists. Occasionally, inspectors detect immediate need for repair. One of those bridges determined to need that work is the LA 169 (Dixie-Mooringsport Road) bridge over Walnut Bayou near Mooringsport in north Caddo Parish.
In an announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we learn that beginning this coming Monday, March 9, the Walnut Bayou bridge on LA 169, approximately 0.81 miles east of LA 538 (Old Mooringsport Road), will be totally closed to all traffic until Friday, March 13, to allow crews to perform repairs to the bridge pilings.

For the course of the week, all vehicles will need to utilize alternate routes and detour signage will be in place.
As with all projects of this type, the work will be done "Weather Permitting" so inclement weather could delay, extend, or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
