It's one thing to take the road seldom taken and put the need of others above your own. But, it's a completely different animal to be there for someone during their darkest hours.

Krista Sasaki doesn't just do it occasionally, she does it every day! As a nurse working with patients who are dealing with cancer, Krista helps guides these people through some dark times, and the way she does it, serves as an inspiration to her patients and those who work for her.

Trace Halphen, who is just 19 years old, has seen enough of Krista's kindness, that he had to share her story with us and it made Krista an easy selection as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Just read the nomination letter that Trace sent us about her!

If you have ever met Krista, you know what qualities a kind hearted human being embodies. She’s a wife, a mother, a nurse, and a wonderful friend. She has many wonderful qualities, but my personal favorite is that she can meet a patient for the very first time, but by the end of the conversation the patient feels like they’ve know Krista their entire life. From a young age Krista has endured much loss. Losing her mother from Colon Rectal cancer set a fire of passion in Krista’s heart. Krista and her husband, Dr. Larry Sasaki, own and operate a private general surgical practice right here in Bossier City. With Dr. Sasaki specializing in Colon and Rectal surgery, it allows Krista to educate patients on how important colonoscopies are. That is where I met and really got to know Krista. I started working for Krista and Dr. Sasaki in 2020. They both took a chance on a 17 year o ld kid, which I am forever grateful for. No matter the time I can always call Krista. She been the boss everyone of us wishes we could have. She’s always willing to chat with me about my life and my issues, and most of the time offers me advice. Which at 19 years old, I feel everyone needs someone like her. It is because of her that I want to help patients and hospital staff by becoming a hospital administrator. It’s been a true inspiration watching her balance working at the hospital, owning and operating a business, and her personal life. She is the perfect example to all of us that no matter how much you have going on in your life, you can always be a kind and compassionate person. I’m grateful that I can not only call Krista my boss, but my second mother as well. I will forever love Krista, and I know her patients would say the same.

Krista Sasaki, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Krista to let her know that she was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.
