If you thought a Thursday night would keep the Shreveport crowd home, you clearly don’t know how we do Mardi Gras in the 318.

The Krewe of Centaur held its Grand Bal this past Thursday at the Shreveport Convention Center, and it was easily one of the most epic parties to ever hit a weekday.

We all know the story by now: that wild snowstorm tried to ruin our original date, but Shreveport revelers aren't that easily deterred. Instead of canceling, we just shifted gears into what I’m calling the 72-Hour Mardi Gras Marathon. If anything, the delay just meant we all had to party a little bit harder to make up for lost time!

The theme this year was "Met Gala," and the black-tie fashion did not disappoint. From the traditional tableaux presentations to the high-fashion gowns, the Shreveport Convention Center felt like a red carpet in NYC.

For those who couldn’t make it in person, the live stream on the Krewe of Centaur's Facebook page kept everyone in the loop, but nothing beats the energy of that room in person.

And the best part? The marathon is only just getting started. Tonight, Friday, Feb 6th, is the "Work of Art" Float Loading Party at the Centaur Den (351 Aero Dr.), and it’s open to the public! It all leads up to the main event: the Krewe of Centaur parade rolling this Saturday, February 7th, at 3 PM.
