Krampus Events Across Louisiana For 2022
What would the Christmas season be without a visit from Krampus? Probably a little boring. But the residents of Louisiana won't have to find out this year, because there are going to be plenty of Krampus events all over the state this year.
So what is Krampus? The concept isn't new, it's actually as old as Santa Claus himself. In fact, he's part of the original Santa Clause entourage. Britannica describes Krampus as:
"popular legend, a half-goat, half-demon monster that punishes misbehaving children at Christmastime. He is the devilish companion of St. Nicholas. Krampus is believed to have originated in Germany, and his name derives from the German word Krampen, which means “claw.”
In popular culture, Krampus has been gaining popularity. Even being the titular character in his own film in 2015. It was a surprise success at the box office, making $61.5 million against a $15 million budget. The movie also has a 67% approval rating on the site Rotten Tomatoes. All helping to show just how popular Krampus has become in popular culture.
Around the state of Louisiana, Krampus' surge in popularity has been welcomed with open arms. The state is actually home to the largest Krampus parade in the United States, and has celebrations in multiple cities. Including in the Shreveport-Bossier area.
There are two different Krampus events scheduled in Bossier City this year. Both are with NecroManor this December. Including an event offering free pictures with Krampus, much like the popular concept of having pictures taken with Santa. You can get details on all the events below...
