Kiss Country Gets Flooded with Love! [VIDEO]

Not only did the fine folks in Kiss Country donate a whooping $956.75 this morning in Haughton, LA for Flood Me With Love benefiting local families displaced by flood waters last month, David Alvis and the group at Silver Star Smokehouse/Steakhouse matched this morning's donations and then some with an additional check for $1,000!

Part of the monies raised this morning came from a donation from Dustin Brandon in memory of Lawson Bo Brandon. Each year since Lawson passed from a tragic ATV accident in 2010, his friends and family get together and hold a baseball/softball tournament in his honor. You see, Lawson was a ball player and he loved the game. The proceeds from the tournament go to the Lawson Bo Brandon Fund to fund a number child oriented local philanthropic efforts. This morning they donated $500 to Flood Me With Love... and then surprised Gary and the McCoy family with a further gift of love and generosity and I was able to catch it all on video.

Gary's middle son, Craig McCoy, a junior at Haughton High School, was in a horrible car accident last fall and even though the McCoy family have medical insurance, like many of the families displaced recently by the flood, they found out that insurance doesn't cover everything. While Gary and the McCoy family would never ask for help, this gift on behalf of Lawson, couldn't have come at a better time. As you can see, Gary was overcome by your generosity and thoughtfulness!

THIS is what living in Kiss Country is all about. Seeing a need and filling a need... Lifting up our friends, family members and neighbors when they need it the most... We hope you'll find it in your heart to make a donation to Flood Me With Love like the rest of the generous people did this morning in front of the Haughton Brookshires... and don't worry, we raised enough money that both Gary and myself will be sporting the now infamous shower caps!
